In collaboration with the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts (StMWK) and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ), the Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia provided a guest from Québec with living and working space for two months in 2026. For the period from April 30 to June 30, 2026, comic book author and illustrator Ariane Cloutier was selected by the jury:

Her book launch at Villa Concordia took place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Ariane Cloutier describes herself as a Montreal-based comic book author with a degree in graphic design (UQAM, 2018). “When she draws, she feels like a child in a sandbox. She plays with shapes and visual metaphors to tell unusual stories with humor and sensitivity.” Diverse projects spark her curiosity. She explores a wide range of media—from magazines to academic journals—and leads workshops in her community, including at libraries and festivals. Through a one-year mentorship at Front Froid in 2020, she gained enough confidence to release her first self-published works. “Will Everything Be Alright?” (Apocalypse, 2021) and “I’m Still on the Road” (Montréal-Gaspé, 2021) were finalists at the 24th Bédélys Awards (Montreal Comic Arts Festival, 2023). In 2025, she illustrated a children’s book for Les 400 coups [L’étrange histoire du chevalier Gaspard | Roxane Brouillard, 2025] and a novel for La Grenouillère [Marie Réparatrice | Louis-Philippe Hébert, 2025]. Villa Concordia will be her playground, where she will work on her first graphic novel, her first comic novel."
