We are not a traditional, quiet support association—we are a vibrant bridge, a free forum for intellectual exchange, and a reliable home base for the fellowship recipients at Villa Concordia and the Neuer Ebracher Hof. Our work operates on two distinct levels: directly behind the scenes, providing personal support to the artists, and right in the spotlight, engaging the entire city community. We complement the state-run structure with a personal component and divide our commitment into two equally important areas: **Pillar 1: Behind the Scenes (Support & Structure)** We clear the way for creative work. Here, the focus is entirely on providing individual and practical support to artists during their stay in Bamberg and in connection with the Künstlerhaus. - **Making the transition easy:** We present warm welcome packages and fund the first intensive German language lessons immediately upon arrival. - **Creative Fuel:** We subsidize publications, book projects, and exhibition catalogs in the fields of visual arts, literature, and music. - **Urban Mobility:** We provide bicycles with no hassle and cover the cost of tickets for the Don Bosco ferry, so that Bamberg immediately feels like a real home. **Pillar 2: In the Heart of the City (Community & Encounter)** Art only unleashes its power through exchange. At this level, we build a bridge from the Künstlerhaus directly into the regional cultural landscape and urban society. - **Cultural Catalyst:** We co-fund and organize major public events such as the annual summer festival at Villa Concordia. - **Latest Festival Highlights:** As a strong networking partner, we support the city’s pioneering music events, such as the “Days of New Music,” which are known far beyond the region and bring contemporary classical music right into the heart of the community. - **Exchange on Equal Terms:** We create spaces where art enthusiasts and international artists can meet directly, informally, and personally. ### Successful as Friends: Our Milestones #### What we’ve been able to achieve thanks to our members and donations: **The Bamberg Sculpture Trail:** Using our own funds and donations we’ve raised, we’ve brought world-class art to Bamberg’s public spaces. The trail features top-tier works by icons such as Joannis Avramidis, Fernando Botero, Kazuo Katase, Markus Lüpertz, Bernhard Luginbühl, Igor Mitoraj, Micha Ullman, and Erwin Wortelkamp. **Current Exhibitions & Projects:** We support sensational, contemporary concepts at our venue. In 2026, for example, the association supported, among other things, the impressive presentation of Florian Hüttner’s “Flussboxen” (Free River Zone Picture Boxes), which allowed visitors to experience natural spaces and art in a completely new, immersive way. **Stefan Eberstadt’s “Rucksack House”:** From 2010 to 2012, we installed this spectacular, walk-in sculpture on the promenade and purchased it with association funds—a powerful statement of modern spatial art. **The Sound of the Villa:** In January 2012, a long-cherished wish of the fellowship recipients came true: We gifted the hall of Villa Concordia its own first-class concert grand piano for rehearsals and performances. ### We love making new friends—become a member! #### Why it's worth being part of the Friends' Circle: **Long-term support:** You’ll be directly supporting exceptional talents who live and work at Villa Concordia and the Neuer Ebracher Hof. **Personal contact:** You’ll enjoy the exclusive opportunity to interact directly with the fellowship recipients. They’ve all already made a name for themselves— because today’s fellowship recipients are tomorrow’s internationally renowned artists! **Inspiring network**: You’ll join a stimulating circle of art enthusiasts and like-minded individuals. **A vibrant bridge**: You’ll become part of an active community that firmly connects the Künstlerhaus with the regional, national, and international art scenes and their people. ### An Overview of Memberships: Additional funds are needed to support fellowship recipients and their artistic work, and these can be financed largely through membership dues. The following membership options are available in the association: **Individual Membership: 60 € / year.** For art enthusiasts who seek personal interaction with international talents and wish to actively shape cultural life in Bamberg. **Couple Membership: € 100 per year**. For couples and partners who want to experience art together and support the Künstlerhaus as a pair. **Fellowship Recipient/Student Membership:** € 18 per year. For students and current or former fellowship recipients. A direct and affordable way to join our creative network. *Good to know:* Your membership dues are tax-deductible. You will automatically receive a donation receipt from us on the officially prescribed form. ### Targeted Project Funding Through Donations The Friends are grateful for every donation! If you’d like to support the association or specifically help advance a particular art project—without becoming a permanent member—you can do so by making a one-time donation. Upon request, we will of course issue you a tax-deductible donation receipt immediately.
