Luca-Maria Hien, born in 1992, lives and works in Munich, Rimsting am Chiemsee, and Hamburg. From 2015 to 2022, he studied Fine Arts and Art Education at the AdBK Nuremberg in the classes of Jochen Flinzer and Kerstin Brätsch; he was a scholarship recipient of the German National Academic Foundation and graduated in 2022 as a master student. Hien is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Painting and Drawing in Kerstin Brätsch’s class at the HfBK in Hamburg. “My process-oriented approach explores painting in an expanded field. Large-format paintings, along with text and sound elements, come together to form an open narrative.”

His works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions, including at the “Kunsthaus Nürnberg,” the “Galerie der Künstler*innen” and “Platform” in Munich, as well as the “Basis” project space in Frankfurt am Main.

The artist was awarded the residency fellowship at the Künstlerhaus Bamberg by Bavarian State Minister Markus Blume at the suggestion of Villa Concordia art fellowship board members Walter Storms, gallery owner, and Katharina Vossenkuhl, Director of the Götz Collection. He will work in Bamberg for 11 month from mid-April to mid-March 2027.
