Outdoor Sculpture Exhibitions
Under the auspices of “International Artists Encounters in Celebration of the 1000th Anniversary of the Bamberg Diocese” the International House of Artists Villa Concordia exhibited additional outdoor sculptures. Three sculptures are on permanent display in Bamberg:
The International House of Artists Villa Concordia presented outdoor sculpture exhibitions in Bamberg’s historic center from 1998 through 2006. At the end of each exhibition the Friends of the International House of Artists Villa Concordia joined forces with numerous sponsors to purchase one sculpture to be displayed permanently in Bamberg as part of Bamberg’s Sculpture Path. Today nine works of art, owned either by the Friends or by the City of Bamberg, can be viewed as you stroll through Bamberg.
Please refer to this map to locate all nine sculptures on display.

Since 2010 the outdoor sculpture exhibitions have been organized and curated by the City of Bamberg itself under the guidance and direction of Dr. Bernd Goldmann, founding Director of the International House of Artists Villa Concordia. The exhibition in 2012 featured the work of Jaume Plensa and was titled "8 Poets for Bamberg”.
