Thomas Lang was born in 1967 in Nümbrecht (NRW). After studying literature in Frankfurt am Main, Lang moved to Munich in 1997. He lives here with his family. In 2002 the first novel THAN was published, awarded the Bavarian State Prize for Literature and the Marburg Prize for Literature. In 2005 Lang received the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize for an excerpt from AM SEIL. Further novels and stories followed, the last one being FREINACHT in 2019. Besides literary writing, Thomas Lang works as a freelance journalist, writes literary essays, portraits and professional articles for computer magazines and teaches creative writing. Scholarships have taken him to Montréal (Canada), Switzerland, Sweden, Italy (Casa Baldi) and the USA (Villa Aurora, Ledig House).
