0⁰: Zero To The Point Of Zero (25.09.-26.10.2025)

Exhibition with works by ARDAN ÖZMENOĞLU

OPENING HOURS: Sat & Sun 11am-4pm and Mon-Thu 8am-12pm and 1pm-3pm, Fri 8am-1pm. Closed on public holiday (3.10.). Our baroque building is not wheelchair accessible, but admission is free!

Ardan Özmenoğlu, born in Turkey in 1979, is an artist and academic known for her innovative use of printmaking and sculpture. Her art is part of major collections, including the Hort Collection (NYC), the Frankfurt Airport Collection, Borusan Contemporary and the Istanbul Modern Museum. In 2025/26, she was awarded the Villa Concordia Fellowship by the Free State of Bavaria. Four sculptures and other works will be on display in her solo exhibition in Bamberg. Ardan Özmenoğlu describes:

In mathematics, 0⁰ (zero to the power of zero) is undefined. Philosophically, this axiom can represent a moment between existence and non-existence; the edge where nothing becomes something, and everything begins from emptiness.

This exhibition with my works uses painted dots as symbols of beginnings, possibilities, and infinite potential. A single dot can mean silence or creation, nothing or everything. By addrressing the paradox of 0⁰, the artworks reflect on the space where all things are possible but nothing is yet formed. It’s a visual meditation on how something infinite can emerge from “nothing”. How a single point can hold an entire universe and hold within it an infinite moment.
