Ulrich Kreppein was commissioned by the Landestheater Coburg to compose a new opera: The work, titled “Caligari,” is a multi-perspective musical theater piece for singers, actors, dancers, a choir, and a full orchestra, loosely based on Robert Wiene’s silent film *The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari* (1920). Ahead of the opera’s premiere in Coburg, the composer is traveling to Bamberg, where he will discuss his work. The Free State of Bavaria has awarded Kreppein’s complete works the 2023/24 Villa Concordia Fellowship: villa-concordia.de/artist.
