Exhibition by PETRINE VINJE: 2016, 12th May – 22nd June

Public visiting hours: Mo-Thurs 8 -12 & 1 - 3 / Fri 8 - 1 p.m. / Sat & Sun 11- 4 p.m. & open on legal holiday Admission is free! The exhibition Z.E.I.C.H.(N.)E.N. is the first solo-exhibition by Petrine Vinje in Germany. Vinje is invited to hold this solo-show in the premises of the Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia, after her residency at the same institution, which is a prize she was given by the Minister of Culture in Bavaria in 2015. She was selected to the stipend by the curatorial board consisting of a.o. Dr. Angelika Nollert (Neue Sammlung, Munich) and Prof. Hermann Pitz (Kunstakademie Munich). She is otherwise based in Oslo. The exhibition is as the title suggests based on an exploration of signs and motifs. Petrine Vinje reflects over the complexities embedded in language, through her continuing research on the futhark (norse written language) and the transition to the Latin alphabet in the Middle Ages. The connections between the Germanic speaking countries of Europe, and how this relates to the Body as our main communicative resource, with political potential, is put on stake in Petrine Vinje’s project. Reminiscence of manuscripts, books and letters is made visible through a number of sculptures in symbolically charged materials and prints on paper.  Fotos: Jürgen Schabel
